The Sessions
Initial Contact may take place by telephone, text or email, whichever you prefer. It is an opportunity for me to discover what you would like me to help you with and to determine if hypnotherapy would be a suitable form of treatment. I am happy to offer an initial free telephone or Zoom consultation, by arrangement, which would last for up to 15 minutes.
The First Session
Our first meeting which give you the opportunity to find out about Solution Focused Hypnotherapy or Mindfulness in more detail. It provides an opportunity for me to gather information about you and to fully assess to what extent therapy may be beneficial for you. It enables us to get to know each other and for you to decide if this is the right therapy for you.
During the first session I will explain how the brain works with reference to your particular problem or issue and how therapy can help. I will explain what happens during hypnosis or mindfulness meditation and answer any questions you may have about the treatment.
I will give you a free CD or downloadable recording to listen to in between sessions. Hypnosis or mindfulness will not normally be used during the first session, but if you wish, you may try a relaxation exercise as an introduction to your forthcoming treatment. All appointments take place in The Therapy Room. Sessions are available via Zoom, if required.
Subsequent Sessions - Working together to create your desired outcome
Subsequent sessions last an hour. During each session you identify what you wish to discuss and the session is adapted to meet your individual needs. We review how things have gone since the previous session, acknowledging any difficulties or resistance to change, but focus on what has been positive. By reviewing how the mind works you will gain insights into your personal patterns of behaviour and ways of thinking. This is a very important part of the therapy because you will find yourself learning to change your outlook. I am able to draw upon my range of skills in teaching, counselling and mindfulness and my approach is person-centred. We work at your pace, but we always move forward. The latter half of the session is when I use hypnosis (if you have chosen hypnotherapy) or mindfulness in order to consolidate what you have learned.
Approximate Time Scales for Treatment
Low mood, anxiety and other conditions: The number of sessions required varies according to individual needs.
Fears and phobias: 3 - 4 sessions may be required.

Please give 24 hours' notice for cancellation of your appointment. If 24 hours' notice is not given, I reserve the right to charge the full rate for the appointment.

Matters discussed within the treatment room are confidential. Your personal data is stored securely and I will not disclose it to any third party, unless required to do so by law.

Fees for Smoking CessationThe initial consultation is included as a part of this session which may take up to two hours. Your full commitment and will power is required for this treatment to be effective.
