Solution focused hypnotherapy is an effective, research based combination of psychotherapy (a talking treatment) and hypnosis. It is based upon the latest developments in neuroscience (the study of how the brain works.) Hypnosis is a means by which we may access the unconscious mind in order to make beneficial changes.
Change cannot happen unless you want it to happen and you are prepared to take the necessary steps to allow it to happen. Therefore this form of hypnotherapy is a collaborative and goal orientated process. I will support you with that process and I will teach you the skills that are needed to make these changes.
Working together we will focus on solutions to your problem by accessing your inner resources. We will not dwell in the past, but focus on what is happening in the present, as well as what you wish to happen or how you wish things to be in the future. Throughout this process you will always be in control. I will help you to achieve your personal goals in a realistic way. We will discuss how to break your goals down into manageable steps and we will review your progress at each session.
Hypnotherapy is used to reduce stress and anxiety. I will help you to calm your mind so that you will be able to focus on overcoming your difficulties. If you are willing to make changes to the way that you think and you are motivated, the therapy may be highly effective for a wide range of conditions. Stick with it and be willing to overcome internal resistance. If you do this, you will change your awareness and your behaviour. A transformation will take place and you will be amazed at the results!
During hypnosis you enter a deeply relaxed, trance like state. In fact, it is a state of focused attention. We enter into that state often without realising it when we are on "automatic pilot." For example, when we have driven home without any recollection of the journey or when we have engaged in exercise. In some ways hypnosis is like day dreaming. You will find yourself aware of everything being said whilst in a calm and deeply relaxed state.
In this relaxed state I am able to help you to form new beliefs about yourself and your capabilities. Hypnotherapy can be enormously empowering and life changing. I shall give you a free hypnotherapy recording that I would expect you to listen to every day, in between sessions. I may also provide you with additional exercises to reinforce the effectiveness of the treatment.
